The DNA of The Oases Network
1. Building Authentic Church with our Generation, not just providing spiritual entertainment. This means being discipled, developed and utilized. Lots of people doing things for first time. Avoiding slick professionalism and taking risks. Cultivating a culture of participation
2. Based on Community and Belonging rather than denomination and membership - an answer to the fragmentation of our societies and our families. Most of church life happens outside of the meetings in homes, Café’s, etc.
3. Non-Hierarchical, Apostolic- Humble Leadership. Team Based Ministry: Men and women leading together, alongside each other bringing out the best in each other.
4. Evangelism as a Way of Life; not an activity. We are the message-opening up the whole of our lives for others to join us. Therefore, the boundaries of church are blurred. Not "are you in or are you out" but "come along the journey with us". Church is open to all and accessible to all
6. Experimental & Creative. Use of Art, Dance, releasing the prophetic juices that exist within the Body of Christ. Daring to take risks and being different.
7. A Culture of Prayer. Establishing a House of Prayer for All Nations – preparing the way for the second coming of Jesus Christ, a lifestyle of prayer and holiness.
8. Breaking the Dualism that plagues Historic Church - a fusing together of ordinary life and church so that we are more concerned with equipping and releasing the dispersed church than with maintaining meetings. Living with the premise that the whole of life is spiritual; we don't operate by compartmentalizing our lives.
9. Knowing that “We're Not There Yet” - a willingness and an ability to keep changing as we walk this journey.
This statement of faith provides the basic foundation of Christian beliefs. It is not a systematic theology or exclusive definition of Christian faith, but a guide to understand the theological perspective of The Oases Network
God created heaven, earth and all that exists, including mankind. God is described as three persons (trinity): God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19, 2Corinthians 13:14) They are indivisible yet distinguishable. Humankind, both male and female are made in the image of God. But humankind rejected God’s rulership of them and turned from God. (Romans 3:10-12) God’s punishment for humankind’s rejection and rebellion from Him is death and judgment. (Hebrews 9:27)
Because of His love, God sent Jesus Christ into the world. Jesus lived under God’s rule and by dying in our place, He took our punishment to give us forgiveness of our sins.(1Peter 3:18) He was crucified, but on the third day, God raised Jesus Christ to life again as the ruler of the world.(1Peter 1:3) God now gives eternal life through the sacrificial blood of Christ to all who believe in Him and call upon His name in repentance.(Ephesians 1:7)
As a sign of their commitment to Christ, believers observe the ordinance of baptism by immersion and remember the work of Christ through regular participation in communion. (Matthew 28:19-20, Luke 22:15-20)
As a body of believers, the Church is to continue the work of Christ by proclamation of His salvation, with signs and wonders following to people everywhere. (Mark 16:15-18) For this reason, God sent His Holy Spirit to empower believers in this task. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are for present day operation; to the body of Christ and as a witness to unbelievers alike, to build up the Church of Christ and to give glory to God.(Acts 2:4, Luke 11:13, 1Corinthians12-14)
As the Church of Christ, there is the assurance that Christ will return a second time. Those that believed in Him shall receive everlasting life. Those that rejected Him, shall receive everlasting punishment.(1Thessalonians4:17, Revelation 21:6-8)
This testimony of God’s relationship with humankind is found in the bible; the inspired, infallible and written word of God.(2Timothy 3:16, 2Peter 1:19-21)
